Scotts United Methodist Church ACF Donation
Angela is a proud founding member of the Agent Charitable Fund (ACF) and continues to give back to those within her community with the help of the ACF. The Scotts United Methodist Church (UMC) is a small rural community that noticed the need for a food pantry in 2021. Unofficially opened by Pastor Beverly Williams and her husband Harry they placed a small food box in the church parking lot for people to take what they needed. Slowly but surely the need for this food box came to be known. Now that the food pantry has been open for 2 1/2 years they have gladly served 93 different families benefiting 278 people. This food pantry has been made possible from donations from the members of the church, but as the need rises there was a slight concern that these funds may run out. Not wanting to close the doors or turn away families in need the UMC decided they needed to seek help. Kristi Obrian from the church was referred to Angela by a Kalamazoo County Board member and that is where Angela and the ACF came into play. Together Angela and the ACF were able to donate $3,000 to the UMC and this donation should last the food pantry for an additional 8 1/2 months. It is amazing what an impact we as a community can make when we all work together. Angela is excited to watch as the families of the Scotts community are given the help they need through this year.
To bring this heartful story full circle, Angela was pleased to learn that Kalamazoo County member Dawn Myers, a local dairy farmer, also donates to this pantry! Dawn and her husband donate milk from their dairy farm to the UMC. It is amazing to see different parts of the Farm Bureau family all coming together to help those in need.
